Classic Technics SL-1200 Mk2, M3D, and Mk5 turntables were discontinued over a decade ago. Since then, used models have rocketed in price. In addition, the increasing scarcity of genuine spare parts has led to unscrupulous sellers combining parts of different models into “frankendecks,” which are designed to fool potential buyers.
