Beatsource, the new digital music service for open-format DJs, hosted its launch party in Los Angeles on Thursday. The event took place at the residence of Absolut Elyx CEO, Jonas Tahlin.
Announced earlier this year, Beatsource is a joint venture between Beatport and DJcity. The public beta of its download store launched in early October, and its LINK streaming service and PROMO subscription tier will launch soon.
Attending the party were A-Trak, who serves on the board of Beatsource, Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, legendary Los Angeles DJs Felli Fel and Revolution, Grammy-winning producers The Stereotypes, and Justin Bieber‘s DJ Tay James.

The event featured DJ sets from A-Trak, Spider, Chris Villa, Danny West, and Kaos. There were also demos from Beatsource technology partners Pioneer DJ and Denon DJ.
“Beatsource is excited to celebrate the first major step for our brand with our avid supporters, industry colleagues and DJ friends,” commented Brian “DJ Quickie” Wong, president of Beatsource and co-founder of DJcity. “There is no better way to launch a music platform than with our favorite DJs playing some good music at this incredible and intimate venue.”
