Boy Bands
*NSYNC

Boy bands aren’t technically a genre, but the term represents a distinctive flavor of pop music featuring groups of male singers, usually in their teens or twenties at the time of formation, singing love songs.

Although boy bands have been around since the 19th century, the term wasn’t commonly used until the ’80s, when groups like New Edition and New Kids On The Block gained mainstream popularity. In the ’90s and 2000s, the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC achieved even greater success. Bands such as the Jonas Brothers and One Direction have delivered global hits in recent years.
