Dubstep is a subgenre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the early-2000s. It combines elements of UK garage, dub reggae, drum and bass, and grime.
Producers like Skream and Benga played a key role in popularizing dubstep in the mid-2000s, while artists such as Skrillex and Flux Pavilion helped make it a global phenomenon in the early-2010s.
