Twerk
TWRK

Twerk is an energetic dance music subgenre that’s influenced by New Orleans bounce and Miami bass music. It emerged in the early 2010s, around the same time as EDM trap, and reached mainstream popularity soon after.

Twerk tracks are usually between 100 to 105 BPM and characterized by syncopated beats with 808 samples and fast-paced hi-hats. Notable hits include DJ Snake and Lil Jon‘s “Turn Down for What,” Yellow Claw‘s “DJ Turn It Up,” and Diplo and Nicky Da B‘s “Express Yourself.” The duo TWRK, comprised of Benzi and esentrik, also played a key role in the genre’s development.
